Public Health Nutrition
After finishing my Bachelors in Nutrition Sciences, I was motivated to find a way of utelizing nutrition education in order to make a change on system level and for the public.
I wanted to find out which population group I find most interesting and impactful to work with.
My focus was set on nutrition during pregnancy and in early life. This felt most impactful for me as the foundation of a new life is based on this vulnerable time and interventions can have a strong impact. Simultaneously, parent’s might feel more open to rethink their lifestyle decisions and nutrition choices during such a life changing time.
With this time being so vulnerable, decisions like infant feeding, nutrition during pregnancy and for toddlers should be based on evidence. Women and parents deserve to be well-informed and there should be limited space for influence from the industry.
In my final thesis research, I wanted to observe how social media platforms influence pregnant women and young mothers in their decision-making around infant feeding.
